We arrived in Orto San Giulio in the evening, and the surrounding 5 (!) campsites were all completely full. This spot was our savior. Your license plate number is stored when you drive in, so you simply pay at the machine before you leave. At €20 per 24 hours, you really can't complain. There's also a simple restroom; we only need it for one night. The site is right on the road, which was quiet at night. Of course, you can still hear the cars. Right next door, you can get delicious food (Restaurant Crossroads) and at one of the best ice cream parlors in town, you can get not only great ice cream but also a fantastic breakfast. Across the street is the famous Villa Crespi with its 3-star restaurant, and the small tourist train departs across the street.
